Creativity _ took some pictures of the scrapbooks room. Since I can't get the pictures to post, I'll describe briefly.
I have a doored book case that houses writing projects like The Artist Way.
I have 2 metal carts with colored drawers in 2 sizes. When I had this upstairs, I kept it in our bed room and wheeled it out to use at the kitchen table. The scrapbooking stuff was really too heavy for this however as I sort things, I plan to use them for light weight items.
One large "basement or garage storage" that right now has boxing of items on it.
I have 2 cases that have 3 rows of 3 12 x 12" cubes. I've stacked those on top of each other. They were purchased on sale at Target. They hold the 12 x 12 cloth cubes so I can label those and pull the entire cloth container out - even fill them with other types of organizers.
I have 2 narrow book cases, also from Target, that have adjustable shelves. Again I have stacked these. I have adjusted the shelves so that on two of them I can store 12 x 12 binders and similar. If I have 12 x 12 pages inside of a container to organize them, they wouldn't fit in the 12 by 12 cubes.
I have a normal bookcase again with adjustable shelves.
I have another one that right now has all magazines in it.
In the middle of the room, I have 2 desks side by side and that is where I am working.
My goal was to re-use items I had first. Next to find used items or great sale items.
I've purchased some plastic pencil cases to sort out the various types of pens that I use.
I got a couple of small decorative "suitcases" at Hobby Lobby on clearance. My plan right now I'm thinking I will use those to sort heavier items. I also found some clearanced items that are clear and have snap on lids. The stack well. They are very similar to typical pencil boxes but about half the width and and come in half the depth or the same depth. They will work well for pens, pencils, or small items.
At Michaels, I picked up a bunch of small containers that are about 1.5' squares. For these I was thinking more of things like decorative rhinestones, tags, stickers etc.
So far I have sorted things so that each area has the right type of thing together. Writing projects, scrapbooking, beadwork, magazines (which are for a variety of hobbies), office, camera and pictures. I did my scavenger hunt for reuseables and sales. Now I am spending small increments of time as I can going through items to put them up in an organized and useable fashion.
I'm fortunate to have a fairly large space to organize but I'm not sure how the lighting will work. I'm trying to make the space one where the items are easy to grab in small amounts or as needed and then compile in one of the cloth 12 x 12 cubes or my scrapbooking event bags (wheeled bag or like a large shoulder bag made for scrapbooking) and work at my kitchen table.
