Day 206 Wednesday July 25, 2012
At the bottom of the picture from yesterday, you can see that I added some goals in my peace and balance smashbook. I really thought I'd have more stuff in the book than I do. Maybe it will run into 2013 or to my goal. Then again if things are back on track, maybe I'll be adding things more frequently.
I'm lost back to my weight in 2010 and am only 1 lb from what I weighed in 2008. I hope that by August 9 for my final weigh in (2nd 8 weeks) I'll at least be there! Since I weigh in for that fully clothed, maybe I can be to that weight dressed :) Six pounds and I'll be at the next 00 weight (the goal after the 1 lb to read 2008 weight). If I can manage it by August 9, I'd meet three goals- to be down too 2008, slide by that to the 00 weight at home and I should be at the 2008 weight fully dressed. Confusing I know! I have to focus on small stuff. I lost 5 on my own in 16 weeks and I've lost 15 in the last 14 weeks. Even with the weight coming off faster, that is such a slow pace that I can focus on the total. I'd give up. Still I've lost almost 20% of that long range goal and based on the weeks in June and beginning of July, I feel I can do what I need to maintain what weight I do reach.
Long term goals- 17 lbs from where I am today will get me to what I weighed in 2006 and 42 pounds gets me to what I weighed in 2005 before the thyroad stopped working right. The other half of the equation, 35 pounds, is the weight I put on when I went of phase on of South Beach and couldn't maintain 3 hours a day of exercise.
Progress......... sweet progress

Day 205 Tuesday July 24, 2012
For some time I've just been hovering at the same point. I go up a pound and down a pound. I missed a workout with flu and I had one that was not full throttle due to a calf injury. All the things that could have derailed me. They may have slowed or stalled my weight loss but I've kept trying. I'm back to twice a week with the personal trainer and getting in more than 30 minutes a day for exercise and slowly trying to build back up to the level of 4-5 times a week getting in 90 minutes.
Bottom line, a half pound weight loss in the last week. From Mid April when I began my body bugg, I've lost 15 lb (and I'd lost 5 at the beginning of the year before body bugg) Of course they do not sync up with the personal training but are close. Had I continued losing 1.5 a week, I'd be at about 22. I'm happy for all that went wrong I could hang in there! Hopefully back on track again.

Day 196 Sunday July 15, 2012
Finally got someone out and the way our internet/phone was wired was all wrong. So now I am get all the work posted. Besides getting the photo's and creative items here, I alwso have to get all my food posted in my BodyBugg. It's been much harder to keep up when you can't plan meals online, see where you are around dinner time and then adjust your food to keep on track. On top of that, several hospital visits with loved ones took a bite into the workout time I committed each week. I was happy to lose a few pounds and manage the minimum goal of minutes.
And now to the season premiere of Breaking Bad while I get some stuff posted.

Day 193 Thursday July 12, 2012
Did my weigh in at work today with the personal trainer. Things have went so poorly that I really wouldn't have been surprised to not lose weight. I was just hoping to not gain because of the inconsistency and the lack of ability to plan meals and record timely with the ongoing internet outages.
While I didn't get the actual inch changes- some small ones- I was down 3 lbs. That's not great but my goal was 4-6 so not so far off.
Onward we go.

Day 170 Tuesday June 19, 2012
The good news, our fur babies seem to be becoming a family. So comfy that Sphinx can do this even when the girls are right next to him.
Tipper can growl and howl if he's near, as though he's a danger. Look at this. How much more submissive could he be.
The bad news, it's been since vacation when I felt this relaxed and as things are right now it might be 2013 before I feel it again. *sigh*

Day 166 Friday June 15, 2012
Weigh in at home for me. I'm trying to weigh in roughly weekly. I started the body bugg on a Monday and the weigh ins for my group training is Thursday and only 3 times in an 8 week period.
This was another good week. I lost 1.1 pounds. Not quite 1.5 lbs I've set as an aggresive goal; however, 1 lb to me is a good solid week.
I'm feeling good about everything although coming back from vacation and lots of distractions have definitely made it a struggle.
Man is this a hot summer. Running outside has been a struggle. I need to find time early in the day because I don't think really late in the evening is going to work.

Day 165 Tuesday June 14,2012
One of the things I had done was a page that were ways I could measure my success with the personal training I was starting. I knew up front that sometimes I wouldn't lose a thing and the rest it was most likely coming off very slowly. I decided though that a few weight "type" goals would be good. What I did was look in my old records for weights I had been before my body started acting differently due to my slow thyroid and menopause. So far I am back to my weight in 2010.
Tuesday, June 12, 2012
Day 160 _ Saturday 6/9/2012
Getting ready for a long run. Not as long as last week but longest of the week. I'm finding I realize some songs don't work as well as it might seem on the surface so I added a page where I can make notes on songs to add or even delete. These are recent songs I listed and want to add for my run this weekend.
Day 159 _ Friday 6/8/2012
Yesterday I have my final weigh-in of the first 8 week period of small group training. While I'm not willing to share the page with all the actual stats, I can share that in those first 8 weeks, I lost 10 lbs. I also lost inches all over- 2.25 bust, 3 from waist, 3 from hips, 1 from thigh and for whatever reason none from my upper arms. However those last measurements are only the last 4 weeks. Not sure why but she didn't write them down the first time.
Although my upper arms didn't show loss, I can certainly tell a big difference in the firmness.
Awesome start and looking forward to another 8 weeks after a weeks hiatus.

Day 158 _ Thursday 6/7/2012
Lately things have just not seemed to go as plan. I spent some time doing entries in my gratitude journal and finished with this list of what I needed to do to make my goals for the year happen.
|
Day 138 _ Friday 5/18/2012
I added some goals to the soft goal pages. From my annual wellness checks, I have the weights for the various years. 2011 and 2010 were close so I set 2010 as a goal. Again 2009 was nearly the same as 2008 so that is the next goal. I am using 2006 and 2005 for the other two. The year of 2004 I gained like 25 due to not being able to keep up a strict limited very low calorie diet and 3 hours of exercise daily. I know it's going to be harder to get back those pounds because I won't be doing it that way. I'll just have to see but I'll do new goal when I have reached the 2005 goal. You can remove the paper clips and see what the actual weight goal.
Day 137 _ Thursday 5/17/2012
Weigh in day today. Lost another 1.6 pounds for a total of 6.6. I'm really happy about that. I'm also very excited for my upcoming vacation. One bad thing is it seems that if you take vacation, you spend a week or two before preparing your work ahead and then another week or two catching up after. All the same, I'm preparing for vacation and so excited!
Day 130 _ Thursday 5/10/2012
Today's weigh in for the body bugg- -1.4 lbs so close to my -1.5 goal for a week. In total that is 5.1 down- for the bodybugg. There is some difference in the way things are recorded- the time periods aren't the same- so it's off a bit.
I've lost as much in this last week that I did in 16 weeks on my own. This is good news. the training is hard but I'm enjoying it. I've had no plantars faciitis flare ups. My "only shoes that work" have been successfully replaced and I've managed to do some fairly long run/walk/or intervals in them.

Day 126, Sunday May 6, 2012
My cell phone has been having issues. Random pictures drop for instance. I replace the phone and then am gone on vacation for 10 days with no phone and internet access. I get back and a strange gray area expands on the screen. Yes the replacement phone is now dying. A new one is on the way.
Meanwhile, our phone and internet at home continues to be out. I've called our representative and it seems like after a complaint, it's back on for some hours or maybe even a day or so. Then same thing. We've called so many times. They claim a credit on the bill will come but have yet to see it. After over a full week with no internet, I now have it. For how long? So to simplify this, I'm planning to build the actual days and then fill in with the daily activities and blog later. Part of this due to some lost pictures I'll have to retake (of the pages created for instance) because of the cell phone online backup failure.
I just refuse to give up but it's so frustrating.
Back later with the days creative endeavor.

Day 125 - Saturday May 5, 2012
On our way to Honey Creek Resort on Lake Rathbun near Moravia, Iowa for my granddaughters birthday- SO HOT and HUMID but also lush and green.
Sunday, May 6, 2012
Day 124- Friday May 4, 2012
My team spent the afternoon doing some work for ChildServe. What a hot, humid day. The morning looked stormy but by the afternoon just HOT HUMID. Luckily we got to work inside.
Day 123 - Thursday May 3, 2012
Cows out in a field. Look at those clouds again. We seem to have storms daily and then it clears off.
Day 122 - Wednesday May 2, 2012
Day 119-121 Sunday April 29-May 1,2012
I spent these 3 days working on net corsages for the children's sermon today. I was out of town with my granddaughter celebrating her birthday that weekend so I needed to get these 40 corsages done. We were acknowledging and educating on World Malaria Day and kicking off our No More Malaria campaign. So I work on these and each day take pictures of the work and it was some of the pictures that just vanished. I can't explain it or change it. All I can do is share the instructions and say that they turned out really well and I wish you could have seen the pictures!

Day 117 Friday April 27, 2012
Poor pitiful me. I'm having issues with my phone shutting off on it's own, losing it's charge, random odd screen changes (like the wallpaper goes black) and pictures disappearing. It seems like any time I manage to sit down to work on the blog updates, my home internet is down. Now I can't find a ton of pictures. How did I find this? Earlier I wanted to post an area in Kauai that the road is canopied with trees. It's quite beautiful and the pictures from Eastern Iowa, for instance, made me think of it. I wanted a comparison of how similar they are, yet different, and thousands of miles and completely different climates. And why do I care now? Because I watched The Descendants and it made me think of the north part of Kauai. They were filming this movie then. We ate at the Kilauea Fish Market after seeing the Kilauea lighthouse and locals working on the film crew were there. All these pictures and I can't find them on the stand alone hard drive with my pictures. Here is a little something I found when I googled the movie:
http://www.parrishkauai.com/blog/plan-a-kauai-vacation-where-the-descendants-was-filmed/
http://www.kauai.com/blog/the-descendants-why-hollywood-loves-kauai/
If you get a chance, watch the movie. The first time I got so lost in the locations and "remember that" as well as enjoying the local music, that I didn't really watch the movie. So I rewatched it. It's a good movie. It made me a little "homesick". This is hard to explain since I didn't grow up there, was nearing 50 before I got to go to Hawaii but there was so much peace, tranquility and just felt I was supposed to be there. I've only had that sort of "deja vue" a couple other times and later found family ties to the area. I don't know this time. I can't explain it but I hope you can drink in a little of the beauty and history by watching this film.

Day 116 - Thursday April 26, 2012
I know it's not a good thing to weigh too often and I don't want to get too food or scale obsessed, yet I weighed again. Keeping up 90 minutes of exercise a day (at least 5 if not more) is taking a lot of my time and lead to personally journaling so for tonight this is all I have to share is the additional 1.5 pounds!
Day 115 - Wednesday April 25, 2012
Maybe I'm just noticing them more. Maybe it's the crazy rainy weather. Whatever it is, we seem to have a lot of interesting cloud formations. This with the retro camera app on my cell phone- Xolaroid 2000.
Day 114 - Tuesday April 24, 2012
Well it's good to have other measures of success but you can't ignore the numbers. The trainer tells me to go by how clothes feel and they are looser. Still it's taken 3 months to lose 5 lbs so .5 in a week is pretty good for me........
Day 113 - Monday April 23, 2012
I added some information to my smash book. I documented that Wednesday April 11 my team volunteered for meals for the heartland on the pocket and then tucked in documents from the day. Really happy to be part of making some 10,000 meals just on our shift.
Sunday, April 22, 2012
Day 112 - April 22, 2012
A day of rest. Sleeping in and several church meetings mean I will not get in 6 mini meals. And I couldn't do a bike ride in the rain plus thought 6 days of 90 minutes resulted in me needing a break.
On the surprise- Tipper has been meowing around, coming up but then running back down. Today she just came on up and is being really friendly!. We shut the bedroom she had been hiding in hoping it will keep her mingling. She seems a bit thin- but then maybe it's just Sphinx is so big but she is eating and drinking well. Holds her ground with the other two and now they let her be. Hopefully the 3 will become buddies. Meanwhile, a photo of her!

Day 111- April 21, 2012
Long run on the banner trail. Stiff from 2 workouts and 90 minutes a day, it was a slow day but got 6 miles in.
The honeysuckle is blooming. The smell was intoxicating. A light rain but the sweet aroma kept me going.

Day 110 Friday April 20, 2012
Earth day celebration called Trash Bash today. Our company let's us participate on company time. Beautiful day, wonderful company and much accomplished. I exceeded 10K steps too.

Day 109 - April, 19, 2012
March was so unusually warm so it's been disappointing how cool and rainy April is. I know some areas are know for that damp, coolness but I find it really depressing. Maybe even more depressing that snow! We've had killing frosts at night after March's 70+ temps. The 17th it warmed up and we had tornado's and much damage in the general area.
Day 107 - April 17, 2012
New best friends. I am learning to use the Body Bugg. Apparently doesn't give me as much burn as other things but I know it has been good for me. Of course now other things are falling behind like morning pages but again I'll get in a new routine.
Hour of Yoga, Got the Body Bugg registered, at by my plan and another week is on it's way. Today a walk at lunch followed by my 45 minutes of group training. Total of 90 minutes.

Day 106 - April 16, 2012
Tonight I spend some time putting down some goals or ways I'd feel I was successful in my training classes. I've learned the hard way it can't be all about weight. Some weeks you do the right things and your body just won't cooperate. Other times when you really haven't earned it, your body drops much more than expected. It's probably a work in progress but I'm hoping that maybe those weeks when nothing else seems to be working, I can see some of those things happening.
Day 105- April 15, 2012
An email from my Yoga teacher with her signature block of Peace and Balance caught my eye tonight. Upon reflection I decided this process I am starting with the small group personal trainer and focusing on my needs for a bit is better described as searching for Peace and Balance. I edited my journal for the process to reflect that.
Day 101 - April 11, 2012
Hillary finally decided to try the Kitty Condo. Surprisingly, she is the one consistently using it. She likes to lay on the couch and bat the balls and play mice that hang on it. The posts are covered with twine type material and she loves to "claw" it. She hides in the middle box and watches us.
If Sphinx climbs in my lap, Hillary come right over and off he goes. What a big baby but I have had both in swatting distance content to sit with me and ignore the other. Now if Tipper would just come up.....

Day 100 - April 10, 2012
I started doing some research due to signing up for a small group personal training sessions and thinking about what I wanted to do once my job ended. That research I posted to May.
Day 99 - April 9, 2012
At the end of last year, I'd been toying with the idea of starting training for something but work was too up in the air. We moved buildings, we catch our breath, we released half our staff and again we try to find our balance. I decided to not waste that work so I wrote them up and pasted them in. I'd debated on just writing on the pages but decided that the journal blocks could be moved if an event is moved to a different month in later years or if I don't want it on the list any longer.
Day 98 - April 8, 2012
In the back of the Possibilities SMASH, I made a list of some things on my "want to do list". It's a place to list the stuff I'd like to do and then in the front I have by month potential ways to meet that goal. If I want to the 5K one and I'm ready in April, then I flip to that page. I left a blank page or two- although on the next page may require me adding something you can see writing on but there is space left.
Day 97,April 7, 2012
Have I mentioned how much I love SMASH books. The seem to be a good, quick solution to my need for lists and easy scrap books. I'm trying to stop getting further and further behind. This one is called - Possibilities. Activities I've wanted to do. The cover is I spent a bit of time coloring. It has these raised designs and they begged me for color-

Day 96 - Friday April 6, 2012
Printed pictures on the way home and added a couple pictures. Big enough to take the slide and her ego boosted by a boy at the pool, she did her first slide and then would not stop!
Not sure why this page is not clear. I've taken it 2-3 times and always blurry!

Day 95 - Thursday April 5, 2012
A day with my granddaughter and her birthday buddy (her cousin). I smashed in the receipt and fold it then used it for notes.
Wednesday, April 18, 2012
Day 94 - Wednesday April 4, 2012
a final page starting off with the new cruise info. The flight and itenerary express docs are included in the pocket. I printed the luggage tag out on card stock to decorage the pocket. This one will be put aside until we leave on or return from the cruise.
Day 93 Tuesday April 3, 2012
A picture page and a pocket page - finishing out the first cruisetour - at least until I find the stuff I know I have and have misplaced or lost.
The pocket on the right contains notes from friends, including the one that passed away in January, who took care of Sphinx for us.

And after. I could post picture on the "save for later" master page if needed since these are just taped in on the top.

GOING
I'm spending too much time working on projects to post. Day 90- a picture of the tree in our front yard. It's very unusual to have trees budding and leafing out so early- really still winter here.

Day 89- Thursday March 29, 2012
Wrote up the description of our time from the arrival at Denali until just about to leave Denali on the 17th. The next pages in the album- nice picture of the world. I really believe that I will find the other pictures or papers/documents that I kept from the trip so I am leaving this blank with the idea of adding a low pouch at the bottom to hold this stuff later.
Day 88 - Wednesday March 28,2012
I won't show the 'before" since it's obvious from the after.
Day one of the trip- our flight to Fairbanks, overnight and the bus ride to Denali.

Day 87 - Tuesday March 27, 2012
I got a SMASH book in the large size. I'm going to use it to record our ill fated earlier Alaska cruise and the one we "redo" in May. This is the cover I did. The picture is an 8 x 10 I did of a close up of sea lions sunning on a bouy when we did a whale watching cruise in Juneau. I'm hoping to get what I have recorded now- before we leave- and may even take this along since it's so easy to "smash" stuff in. Then I'd just have to add the pictures later. I've already "lost" the pictures from landing in Fairbanks until on the boat in Seward. So here I am working on this!
I've ordered some other 4 x 6 photos I may possibly add around the corners
